A voice can be heard on the other side of the fence.
That unfamiliar wavelength reverberates in my body.
Okinawa is a small island at the southern tip of Japan. The view from there is a large foreign country with an impressive lush lawn.
” It's the United States of America on the other side of that fence. ” My father's voice echoed back to me as a child.
On the other side, a well-built foreigner is staring at me.
”What does this side look like from the other side?”
As I become a father, I ask my children.
Blind and longing for peace, I once again gaze beyond its borders with my family.
