Morning - Ventimiglia, Italy: a black family arrived in Italy by boat walks on the beach. When I take the train to Nice, I see them step inside. After crossing the border, the police get on and escort them off the train. Afternoon - Nice, France: a black family arrived on a cruise ship strolls lazily along the shore: they play, laugh and take selfies like everybody else. I took pictures of both families, same day, same shore, different destinies. I kept silhouettes out of focus in order to give the idea of indefiniteness and interchangeability. We are the others, and the others are us.
