Undisturbed

A few days before Raul Castro’s resignation, great headlines were written in the international press. “The end of an era”. “A historic transition”. “A generational shift”.
One could imagine such an event would be treated as a milestone.

But nothing happened.

A short speech was given on television, and life went on, undisturbed. The 19th of April was a day like any other in Cuba.
The political world appeared to be considered by locals as a separate universe, fully dissociated from their daily struggles.

How can hope subsist when you know tomorrow will be the same as today ?
