Greece in Crisis, Protests in Athens

Greece is in the fifth year of a very bad political and financial crisis and the passage of the third memorandum in August 2015 is a fact. The financial measures contained in this memorandum
is even harder than the previous, with changes in insurance bill, which affect mainly retirees, workers, farmers and professionals. From the earliest days of 2016 in the center of Athens, will be carried out by thousands of Greeks, rallies and general strikes against
the new insurance bill. In these general strikes and rallies marked violent clashes between riot police and demonstrators.

Nikos Antonopoulos was born in 1990 in Athens, Greece. Before becoming a photographer Nikos received the BSc in Electrical Engineering from Technological University of Athens. His passion for photography, made him change career. After his graduation, he started working as a photographer, for theatrical performances and events. Now he is working as a freelance photojournalist in political issues in Greece and Europe covering breaking news and feature stories. He is working also on personal projects, documenting the consequences of social changes after the economic crisis in Greece, in the life of socially vulnerable groups.
