Lost freedom
My kids fascinate and frustrate me, amaze and irritate me, both releasing and stifling my creativity. For one who is fueled by travel and freedom, they impose routine and stability. The cornerstone of my photographic approach is to tame the feeling of suffocation and the emotional duality that parenting brings to me, which are now amplified by the COVID containment. Because through my kids, I see my sorrows and my joys, my intoxication and my torments, and especially the freedom that inhabits them, compared to that which I no longer have.

Isabelle Thibault was born in the Outaouais region of Quebec, in a creative milieu. After finishing her university studies in Central America and living in the Netherlands, Isabelle worked in advertising in Montreal, before devoting herself entirely to international development, particularly in Haiti. She has trained and done workshops with renowned National Geographic photographers in Canada and the United States, including award-winning photographer Maggie Steber, which she considers
