This project of staged still life photographs was inspired by the
light and domestic compositions of16th Century Dutch and
Flemish painting. It also references the tradition of early
daguerreotypes and the Victorian tradition of post-mortem
portraits. My previous work included unstaged images of wildlife
in the Gowanus Canal and evolved into these staged studio still
life.
