Memoire Series

The Memoire Series is a look at life that has come before us. Wherever we live, travel, walk, sit, celebrate, raise children, bury our loved ones: people have gone before us. This work is a look at the brevity of life on the timeline of history. The Mémoire Series combines family photos from Rosanne Olson’s paternal grandfather, taken circa 1930-1950, with her own current landscapes of her home state of North Dakota.

Rosanne Olson is a fine art and commercial photographer based in Seattle. Her fine art work is represented by several US galleries. Her commercial work includes photography for the New York City Ballet and the Seattle Opera. She has just completed a five-year project called Body Image--how women feel about their bodies. It is a book and traveling exhibit of nudes of women of all ages and ethnicities accompanied by essays about how they feel about their bodies. Rosanne's photograph was featured as a cover story in the Jan/Feb 2004 issue of Communication Arts.
