Lamalera is the last village of the earth where human beings to
survive catch sharks, killer whales and dolphins by hand with
primitive techniques. It 'a way to fish and live wild and dangerous
that involves all the village men. Lamalera is located in archipelago
of Solor on the island of Lembata in Indonesia. Like the characters
in MOBY DICK these intrepid fishermen hunt using only
rudimentary tools like iron harpoon mounted on long bamboo
poles, with which you launch from their small wooden boats on
the sea prey using the push and dip strength of their weight to kill
them. They hunt only to eat and then they use every single part of
trapped animals, whose meat is put to dry in the sun to be stored
in the winter months.
