Artist Statement
Everybody knows this story; and all of us have already played
these characters: the girl, the wolf and the huntsman. The
dichotomy between innocence and pleasure must be pointed
out to both children and adults, because we carry all the
characters our whole lives.
Pleasure and responsibility represent a chess game of life. Of
course, curiosity makes us play the roles of our choosing. The
metaphor behind the forbidden, despite the risk that we never
know where that path will lead us, urges humanity towards the
mysteries of life .
Ricardo de Vicq was born in 1950 in Rio de Janeiro and has been based 30 years in São Paulo. In the mid 60's Ricardo learnt to draw and paint with the artist and master Ivan Serpa at the MAM RJ (Modern Art Museum, Rio de Janeiro). He started to work as a photographer, shooting artists' portraits. His personal work has been featured in exhibitions in locations including Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paris, Florence, Pistoia, Los Angeles and Vermont. In 2014 he was selected to exhibit his work at the Biennale D'Arte di Asolo in Treviso, Italy.
