From when the NATO intervention in Afghanistan began until
2012, all military operations were planned, organized and
conducted by the international forces, together with the ANSF; in
2012 there has been a significant shift in NATO strategy, which
introduced the Security Force Assistance (SFA) concept. The SFA
concept represents a crucial step of the transition of the ANSF in
the lead, resulting by the imminent end of mission International
Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
