Elections in Burma

While Burma remains a poorly-functioning state these are certainly days of profound change in Burma as reforms continue. Pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi has historically claimed a by-election landslide victory for her National League of Democracy party, one she hopes will mark a new beginning for Myanmar.

Paula Bronstein started her career as a photographer in 1982 as a staff photographer with the New Haven Register and then was on staff at The Hartford Courant newspaper for 12 years from 1984-96. She then went on to work for one year at The Chicago Tribune and in 1997 at The Register Guard in Eugene, Oregon. During this time Paula was affiliated with several photo agencies such as Black Star till 1994 and then Gamma Liaison and Tony Stone Images; which have both been absorbed by Getty Images.
In 1998 Paula chose to go freelance, leaving the USA, basing herself in Bangkok, covered news and feature stories throughout Asian region, Afghanistan, and the Middle East. After freelancing for a four years, Paula joined as staff photographer for Getty Images since June 2002, and has been awarded numerous honors for her work, which appears daily throughout the world?s media.
