Between a 76% to 85% of people with mental health illness in Mexico will never receive treatment. From the total budget of the government assigned to health only 2% is allocated to mental health. Penetrando la Oscuridad (The Ministry) is located in Chiapas, the capital of the poorest state in Mexico. A home dedicated to rescuing people with mental illness living in poverty conditions, as well as elderly and abandoned persons. None of the residents have been properly diagnosed or medicated.
