This photograph depicts the artisans of Katana Market, which opened in May 1974. It is a live fish auction market, blessed with the rich waters off Chitahantou Morozaki and Hiraka Island. Prior to 1972, the Katana Fisheries Cooperative and the Himakajima Fisheries Cooperative operated separate markets. However, the two cooperatives joined hands to integrate their markets. In May 1972, the Second Structural Improvement Project Establishment Agreement was concluded. The market was developed into a vast facility with an initial scale of 2,000 square meters, evolving into a better market. Today, Katana Market boasts a rich variety of seafood landings.
