Depending on the individual, a shadow may represent past mistakes, the circumstances of one’s origin, or the weight of inescapable social norms. While acknowledging the presence of immense, inevitable shadows, this self-portrait captures a fleeting moment—freed from my own shadow that has long clung to me, lifting myself to a place higher than the darkness that seeks to define me.
