Photographed beneath the dark skies of New Zealand’s Aoraki Mackenzie Basin, a remote highway leads toward the Southern Alps as the luminous heart of the Milky Way rises above the ridgeline. I composed the road as a pathway between Earth and sky, linking a familiar journey through the landscape with the far greater journey of ancient light travelling across our galaxy.
