one evening late May 2026, just before sunset, this European bee-eater arrived on its favorite perch.


I took the picture from a hide and positioned myself so that I could use the last sunlight of the day as a backlight to color the wings and tale.


The photo was taken in Hungary near the Kiskunsági Nemzeti National Park.
