This work is a self-portrait taken in front of the red wall of Myeongjeong, a Korean meditation space, gazing at the boundary between life and death.
The red wall symbolizes my life, and my reflection in the water symbolizes death.
At the moment when light and darkness, presence and absence intersect, I stood before time as a human being.
The red clothing symbolizes my will to adapt to the flow of time, and the umbrella symbolizes the warm relationship that embraces one another even amidst transience.
This work is a self-portrait that captures my humble acceptance of life at age 67.

I am a 67-year-old housewife and self-portrait artist.
Rather than chasing fleeting moments,
I focus on capturing the tranquility and sublimity of beings quietly enduring the passage of time.
I seek to document the essence of objects and space, and a warm gaze toward humanity that becomes even clearer in the twilight of life.
