Capturing a moment as a fragment—which is precisely what photography is—became my instrument for seeing what is essential. The omission of the unimportant reduces it to a detail that can be overlooked in the whole and underscores the uniqueness of the chosen subject. I prefer black and white and the square format, although I don't always choose this format. This format gives neither side more space than the other and, in my view, allows the viewer more room to engage with the subject and the image's message.
