Ferdinand Peck from Chicago planned to build a theater. He hired Adler and Sullivan to design it.

In 1889 the project with many technological innovations was completed; Edison light bulbs casting golden glow, AC with 15 tons of ice daily, 26 hydraulic lifts and a huge loft above the stage.

The Theater’s bullhorn shape moved sound over a long distance. Oval-shaped supporting arches excluded need for columns guarantying perfect acoustics.

Sullivan's ornamentation of gold leaf, stencil patterns and reliefs were applied to the ceiling arches.

There are also two rustic murals on the walls.
