A detour from my route took me to what should have been one of my destinations. The Glen Canyon Dam and Bridge are where the Grand Canyon begins. The Dam holds back the Colorado River and provides water to the Upper Basin states and power to the millions of people. The bridge was finished in 1959 and was created to carry US route 89 across the Colorado River and aide in the construction of the Dam.
