Stretching 12.9 km across the Northumberland Strait, the Confederation Bridge is the world’s longest bridge over ice‑covered waters—a curving “Fixed Link” connecting Prince Edward Island to New Brunswick. In harsh winters, whiteouts and sea ice reduce it to a thin line of lamps and concrete, yet Islanders keep moving—farmers, fishers, truckers, and families sustained by a resilient community spirit. Each crossing echoes Charlottetown’s role in Confederation and the Island’s pride in this Canadian engineering landmark.

Tea Chen is a photographer, videographer, English instructor, and Buddhist monk of GEBIS. Ordained in 2008 and arriving on Prince Edward Island in 2010, he has spent over a decade creating visual works for Buddhist monasteries across PEI and Asia. Originally from Taiwan, he grew up and worked on PEI — often regarded as a “come‑from‑away,” yet still calls the Island home. Integrating Tibetan Buddhist analytical training into both teaching and art, he invites viewers to slow down, observe, and reconnect with the outer world and their inner values.

Awards In 2025, Tea Chen was awarded Category Winner in the Celebrate PEI Agriculture Photo Contest, organized by the Government of Prince Edward Island. His photograph Tractor on the Milky Way received first place in the Modern Technology in Agriculture category, recognizing a creative intersection between contemporary farming, landscape, and night photography. It was also featured in the Island Farmer newspaper in Spring 2026.
