In 2019, I made four solo trips between Taipei and Hong Kong. After each trip, I found myself unable to simply look at the photographs I had made only days before. Soon, I was planning another journey, knowing it might be even more dangerous than the last.
Looking back, I still cannot fully separate whether I was documenting Hong Kong’s transformation or building my own body of work. Over time, the negatives developed a voice of their own—quiet, yet carrying the enduring strength of documentary photography.
