A Cambodian woman displaced by the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia that began on 24 July 2025 died at a clinic in an evacuation camp due to the harsh conditions of camp life. Faced with the life they could not save, the medical staff lamented. The Khmer people, who throughout history have endured the tragedies of war, were once again engulfed by the ravages of conflict and stripped of their daily lives. The death toll from this conflict across both countries is at least 100, with over 500,000 people having been forced to flee their homes.

Satoshi Takahashi is a Japanese photojournalist. Born in Akita Prefecture in 1981, he studied photography at the Department of Photography at Nihon University's College of Art. He started his career as a freelance photojournalist in Cambodia in 2007. In March 2019, he was awarded the 38th Domon Ken Award for his photobook RESISTANCE, which compiles work shot in Cambodia between 2013 and 2018. This is one of Japan's most prestigious awards for documentary photography, and the book has been added to the permanent collection of the Ken Domon Museum of Photography.
