Mecox Beach, in Bridgehampton on Long Island, New York, is defined by a rare and luminous coastal light. Thickened by air and water, this light gathers and lingers, creating an ethereal, shimmering glow that transforms land, sea, and sky.
Made over several weeks in the spring of 2019, this body of work reflects repeated visits to the beach in darkness and at first light. The photographs are less about place than about presence - moments of quiet immersion, isolation, and communion with the landscape. Shaped by looking, waiting, thinking, re-thinking, and finally… creating.

David Magee (b.1963) is an Irish Artist. He has been making photographs outside, Working primarily before dawn and in the darker hours. With an alluringly distinctive style offering the viewer a point in time to reflect and be drawn into a world of quietude, contemplation and tranquility­.

Working predominantly in series, Magee’s work explores thresholds - between land and sea, light and shadow, presence and absence - inviting quiet, contemplative
engagement.
