One subject, one space, infinite variation.
This series is a personal study in equine portraiture, pushing myself to work creatively within limitations: How many stories can I tell with what’s right in front of me, a champion Welsh pony? Carefully considering how framing, lens choice and natural light could each shift the mood and message of an image. This process deepened my appreciation for subtle shifts — in posture, light, texture, and angle — and reminded me how much range exists within a small frame, both technically and emotionally: Intense, Soft & Polished.
As a self-taught artist, I bring instinct as well as experience to my work— years spent working with horses at an international level have given me an intimate understanding of their behaviour, character, and unique energy.
I now observe and photograph horses from a more intentional and visual perspective. My experience allows me to connect with them in a way that results in strong portraits that are both intimate and emotionally resonant. I also strive to capture not only the quiet beauty of the horse, but also moments of powerful and surreal movement.
