For over a decade, I have returned to the same boats, compelled by wonder. Marine organisms colonize hulls in lace-like patterns of astonishing beauty — nature's organic forms dancing with the geometry of human hands.Then one day a ship worm made something clear: when a boat is hauled ashore, everything living on its hull faces collective extinction. Sacred texts speak of an apocalypse where the innocent perish alongside the guilty. On these boats, that apocalypse happens every season — set in motion by a hand that never knew what it was ending.What began as a story has become an elegy.
Devrim Çelebi is a Turkish photographer based on Turkey's Mediterranean coast. Working professionally in architectural and real estate photography for over a decade, she pursues long-term fine art projects exploring the relationship between nature, time, and human intervention. Through sustained observation, her work transforms overlooked surfaces into contemplative images that question perception, impermanence, and the hidden rhythms of life.
