American Bodegónes reflects on mortality, the human condition, and our culture’s obsession with materialism. Through imagery inspired by Dutch and Spanish paintings, it expresses the transience of our existence by exploring our shared relationship with food.
Liz Obert is a lens-based artist with a BFA from the College of Santa Fe and an MFA from Washington State University, living in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, with showcases in Spain, France, and Hungary.
Her current work reflects on mortality and the human condition, as well as our culture’s obsession with materialism. It expresses the transience of our existence through our shared experiences with food through imagery inspired by Dutch and Spanish paintings, with a little added humor.
Awards Recently, she won second place in ProfiFoto’s New Talent Award and will have her work published and exhibited in Germany. In 2025, she won the 1839 Award for Photographer of the Year in Still Life. Recent exhibitions include venues such as the Blue Sky Gallery's Pacific NW Viewing Drawers, Gallery 114, the Limassol Apothikes Papadaki Arts Centre in Cyprus, and Strata in Santa Fe, NM.
