The Dutch masters painted cut flowers at their most magnificent — and their most transient. My series offers a different proposition: what if the frame could hold something still living?
Shot entirely at ISO 800 and f/8 — a consistent discipline that gives the series its name — each image places a flowering plant within a physical frame, then allows it to exceed that boundary, spilling beyond the picture plane as if refusing containment. The frame, meant to define a view of the world, finds itself exceeded by the world it sought to hold. These plants were never cut after each photograph.
