Tender Excess (France, 2025) is a staged photographic series inspired by Renaissance and Baroque painting. Through meticulously composed scenes shaped by dramatic light, the work revisits classical iconography through a contemporary lens. The presence of children introduces spontaneity into inherited visual conventions, while pop references, everyday objects, and cultural codes create a subtle tension between past and present. Rather than reenacting historical imagery, the series reflects on how identity and memory are constructed within contemporary visual culture.

Camila Girardelli is a Franco-Brazilian photographer based in France.

She undertook art and photography studies through courses at Central Saint Martins in London and the International Center of Photography in New York.

Throughout her career, she has been involved in projects with internationally recognised artists and filmmakers, including artist Vik Muniz, working as a still photographer on the Academy Award–nominated documentary Waste Land (2010).

Her work has been selected for inclusion in the collection of Amy Simon Fine Art, United States.
