Sanatorium Metallurgist, Tskaltubo, Georgia. Built in the 1930s as a spa resort for Soviet workers, the complex has stood abandoned since the 1990s. Across its ballrooms, corridors and patient rooms, chairs remain — not scattered but placed, as if whoever sat in them simply stepped away.

This series follows those chairs through nine spaces.

The building forgets. The chairs remember. Both have been doing so for thirty years.

Alessio D'Addato is an Italian architectural photographer based in Vilnius, Lithuania, working across Europe. His practice is built around spatial narrative — spaces photographed not as documents but as experiences, where depth, available light and human scale combine to make architecture feel inhabited before it has been entered. His work spans cultural institutions, performing arts centres and abandoned heritage. He has received over 20 international awards including the Sony World Photography Awards shortlist, European Photography Awards Gold, and Architecture MasterPrize Winner.
