Nocturne is a series of staged black-and-white photographs, each built around one woman placed inside an impossible situation - a body inside a water-filled piano, a figure on a traffic light above an empty street, a woman on a car submerged in a lake. I construct every frame like a film scene and look for the moment where tenderness and danger share the same image. I call it conflict in the frame - the calm surface hides something, and you are never sure whether the woman is in trouble or in control.
