Neck and Neck

This image was captured with a smartphone using its telephoto lens and an ND64 filter, enabling a slow shutter speed of 1/15 sec in daylight. Without burst mode or AI tracking—both ineffective for panning—I configured all settings manually in advance. The frame was achieved in a single attempt, during one race, relying solely on timing, anticipation, and precise motion control. It challenges the limits of mobile photography and reflects discipline over chance.

Aliace (Uesan) is a Tokyo-based photographer whose work spans multiple genres, including fine art, architecture, astrophotography, macro, and motion. With a foundation in observing the night sky through telescopes, his transition to photography was driven by a desire to preserve ephemeral beauty through images. His approach emphasizes unconventional technical experimentation and non-standard perspectives, often seeking expressions that are visually striking yet conceptually resonant.
