This work is about the living conditions of immigrants from the
Balkan route who arrive in Trieste and take refuge in the Porto Vecchio.
Porto Vecchio is located near Trieste station and is a collection of
dilapidated buildings, abandoned for decades and populated by rats and cockroaches.
In this area, immigrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, India
and Bangladesh live in tents or sleeping rooms without electricity, water,toilets and amidst garbage.
Despite all their efforts to reach "Civilized Europe," this is
the existence they have to lead for months ......
I'm a passionate photografer. I live in Padua, the north of Italy. My favourite subject is nature, underwater nature; I love dive and discover marine nature with her creature.
But also I travel for discover other world and meet people, take photo of their life, try to enter in their life.
I discovered the sad reality of immigrants stopping in Trieste through articles, and I wanted to see it with my own eyes.
Once in Trieste, I felt a strong necessity to document it with my photographs to share it with others.
