Over two days, the series documents rehearsals and the concert in clear, compositional images: gleaming tuning rods, string patterns, and bowed curves form graphic lines, while light-and-shadow contrasts emphasize hands, faces, and gestures. The photographs guide the viewer from focused work in the half-light of the rehearsal room to the energetic climax under spotlights, tracing the process from the first note to the applause.
Nina Sommer is a Basel-based photographer, florist, and multidisciplinary artist. Her work emerges from an attentive eye for moments, people, atmospheres, and light. At the core of her practice is photography, which she combines with cyanotype and floral design. The result is a series of poetic visual narratives that explore ephemerality, light, and materiality.
Through Studio Sommer, she develops visual concepts at the intersection of art and applied practice – quiet, atmospheric, and evocative.
