Aboriginal children greet myself on arrival at their extremely remote indigenous township of Ali Curung Northern Territory Australia… all red dust and smiles.
Ali Curung - population roughly 500 - lies near 400 kilometres north of Alice Springs (with nothing in between). Officially opened in 1958 and originally known as Warrabri, Ali Curung is home to the Warlpiri, Warumungu, , Alyawarra and Kaytetye peoples. It may also be known as Alekarenge (Dingo Dreaming) and the school there takes that name. I was in the community to document the school children learning 'direct instruction'.
