This image was captured in the Illulissat ice fjord, part of the parade of icebergs from the Sermeq glacier in western Greenland.
I was expecting to see gigantic floating ice structures but the variety of textures of the ice was something unexpected.
All the icebergs were individual and every one was beautiful. There were ice caverns, portals, blue 'ribbons' running through the ice, and endlessly interesting shapes and patterns.
On this particular evening, the side-lighting on the huge vertical face of this iceberg was exquisite, and showcased the incredible intricate textures.
