There used to be a village where people lived in Shirakawa Lake in Iide Town, Yamagata Prefecture, but it was submerged due to the construction of a dam.
In Shirakawa Lake, there is a “submerged forest” that appears only for a few weeks in spring when the snow melts.
This is a fantastic landscape created when the water level of the lake rises to adjust for the melting of snow at the Shirakawa Dam and the trees native to the lakeside are submerged in water.
Now, people glide across the lake, where humans and nature coexist in quiet harmony.
