Head and back bowed, this powerful pose to me suggests both resignation and despair. I chose to photograph this seated young woman where two unadorned walls meet an unremarkable floor, as it resonates too with the childhood punishment of being sent to ‘stand in the corner’ and the feelings that elicited, both then and now.
