As Earth celebrated the return of sunlight this past December, a pair of violent storms surged across the Pacific Ocean, creating some of the most powerful waves to reach the Hawaiian Islands in decades. Venturing into the sky enabled me to capture intimate and expansive perspectives of this historic phenomenon.

Entering the ethereal glow of twilight in a private helicopter, I encountered a vast spectrum of vivid surf: from serene glass barrels to mammoth swells the size of five-story buildings. This series explores the beauty and power of the ocean, and how they transcend our imagination.

Award-winning fine art photographer Cody Roberts creates transcendent imagery that empowers viewers to experience the vitality of nature.
