Traveling Back in Time

In April 2025, I captured this series during a visit to Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport. My objective was to capture the expansive, cavernous halls and striking geometric patterns that characterize its monumental design. The interplay of natural light filtering through the expansive windows and the stark contrasts of shadow reveal both the structure’s formidable scale and its intimate, human touches—faded signage, worn floors, and empty check-in areas frozen in time.

Jonathan Ducrest is a Swiss-born photographer and visual storyteller known for his evocative images that capture the intersection of nature, architecture, and the quiet poetry of daily life. Raised amid the dramatic landscapes of the Swiss Alps, he developed an early appreciation for light, texture, and the rhythms of the natural world- elements that are central to his work today. His photographs have been featured in travel editorials, brand campaigns, and visual essays that celebrate the art of slow living and the pleasures of timeless design.
