This series documents free climbers across Europe, from Fontainebleau to Albarracín, exploring the faces and motivations of individuals who have chosen such a dangerous sport. For every trip to the boulder field, I lugged a 5x4 or 6x9 camera and portable studio flash heads which gave me full control over the aesthetic of the image, no matter the conditions. I wanted to use the unique cameras and lights to attract subjects and meet more of the community I was capturing – which I had the privilege of becoming a member of during the production of this ongoing series.
