When I was in front of Jökulsárlón lagoon and its floating ice sculptures, it left me breathless: enormous ice pieces from the Vatnajökull Glacier, thousands of years old, were slowly floating towards the sea to vanish forever. Recent studies on the response of Icelandic glaciers to changes in temperature show that they could lose 25–35% of their volume in a few years. As a photographer, I think it is a meaningful task to show nature’s fragile beauty and its dramatic condition, to arouse awareness of the importance of a revolution in the way of life and interaction with the environment.
After graduating in Foreign languages, I moved to France where I lived for 6 years, between Paris and Nice. Photography became my way to express emotions, an inner and vital journey. Beyond technical aspects, I like challenging the rules to highlight forms and textures. Much of my work focuses on the language of nature: in its less 'visible' aspects I look for subjects to create something that resonates emotionally. I think that simple elements can sometimes evoke parallel worlds, opening gateways to an unconscious dimension so that the space explored outside can make 'visible' my inner gaze.
