This series communicates the sense of chaos and confusion which predominates in Lebanese cities. The construction system in the country, which is known to be profit oriented, lacks updated and regulated laws and proper control, which results in this condensed and disorganized fabric, often referred to as a “concrete jungle”. The use of a multiple exposure technique accentuates the existing claustrophobic feel, as well as the omnipresent sense of saturation. Creating this effect in camera without knowing the exact outcome in advance has an arbitrary quality to it, which is also a form of chaos.
