Beyond the impermanence of things, Paris will always be Paris. I look at the city in the present, I capture the air of time, I evolve in my time and sometimes the Paris of today has a curious air of yesterday. The eras telescope. The characters are part of a kind of eternity: the silhouettes, the attitudes, the present faces resemble those of the past. In the randomness of the city, the world of today and the world of yesterday merge. And I like to capture this confusion, this Paris in black and white is definitely timeless.
Hillel Winograd is a photographer. The man is marginal. He stands at the edge of the world, in perpetual search for balance. He never stood in the evidence of speech. It is silently and quietly that he considers reality. He waits for his turn, surrounded by a grace that emanates from him. He gleans the precious moment, the slightest detail where the splendor of life shines through. He says, “Making a photo is like catching the ideal.” He holds to life, and he sticks to it. Shooting is an essential link to others, a necessity to stay upright, alive, alert.
