LightHouse Keepers of Sakhalin

On the vast and wild Sakhalin Island lies the last place in the world with a series of man operated lighthouses. Just a hundred kilometres in places from Hokkaido, these hardy and tough men operate under the protectorship of the Russian military. Most of the building and equipment is left over from the Japanese occupation, a strange mixture of Soviet resilience and Japanese industry.

Focused on the other side of life, where my camera can explore areas that i wouldn't normally have access to. I am drawn to intensely human stories, good or bad, in the places people have forgotten exist.
