Glass Vases

This series is an exploration on how nostalgia plays an important part in stabilising and comforting us during life challenges. Nostalgia takes us back to when we were accepted, loved unconditionally or felt safe, which is a very powerful form of comfort. This helps us to centre ourselves again and move on.
Each image consists of a vase from my deceased mother combined with reconstructed flowers, which I remember she used in those specific vases. Our memory process is not only selective, but it is also somewhat distorted. I have therefore reconstructed the flowers from my memory.

Anne Mason-Hoerter is a Canadian photographer who experiments with the combining of multiple image scans and digital images of food and botanics. She was captivated very early on by extreme photographic manipulation techniques as a photographic student at the Ontario College of Art in Canada. Still today, Anne is constantly in search for unconventional ways in which to present both food and Botanical imagery in a modern and original way.
