Although it may seem at first look a representation of a conventional Venus, this image deciphers a deeper, complex meaning of feminine beauty. This is shown in the projection of cellulitis and psoriasis, showcased in the buttocks, legs and elbow. It's a self-portrait.
Cristina Otero (Spain, 1995), is a visual artist who uses photography as a means to represent and reflect about human paradigms and experiences through the practice of self-portraiture.
Being self-taught, at fifteen she had her first solo exhibition at the Kir Royal Gallery (Valencia), becoming the youngest Spanish artist to exhibit individiually in a gallery. Cristina has exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions in national and international Art Centres such as: Universidad Creativa (Costa Rica), Bienal de Fotografía (Ecuador), Impulse (Germany), Al-tiba9 (Algeria).
