While visiting a small village in Bulgaria, I met a woman sitting on a little bench in front of her house. Happy to talk to someone, she invited me inside for a cup of herbal tea. She showed me rugs, tapestries, she made in her youth. In the bedroom, her childhood doll decorated the bed and kept her the only company. She feels forgotten. Her three children chose the big city and visit her rarely.She doesn’t want to join them and to leave her native land, where the graves of all her relatives are and her roots.
