The Mundari are cattle herders living in symbiosis with their Ankole Watusi cattle, characterized by large horns. Nothing is more important for them than their bovines.

Kids are doing most of the daily work. They collect the fresh cow dung and put it into piles which are then set on fire. Those fires are useful as they repel the numerous and voracious mosquitoes of the area.

The young kids with few adult guardinas are sleeping with the cows. The ash from dung fires, as fine as talcum powder, is often used as bedding.

Born in Italy and educated as an engineer, Roberto Pazzi is a documentary and cultural photographer whose work explores people, communities, and the relationship between identity, culture, and place.
His work has been published by renowned publications around the world, and he is also the author of HUMANKIND, a premium limited-edition volume presenting a curated selection of his work in large format.
Based in Spain, Roberto collaborates with Nomad Photo Expeditions, where he leads immersive photographic journeys to some of the world’s most remote and culturally vibrant regions.
