It was a hot day in the Anza Borrego desert, under a cloudless, deep blue sky. Then this single, queen conch-shaped cloud appeared over the barren desert hills. In less than 4 minutes it dissolved into the, once again, cloudless sky. On my way home I thought about that strange, shape-shifting cloud. My sister had recently passed away. When we were kids we would lie in the grass and find pictures in the clouds. On that day, in the desert, I first saw a queen conch shell cloud, then a Mountain Sheep, then a woman with flowing hair, and then she was gone. I said, with a tear in my heart, goodbye.
